Meet The Team
My name is Christian Sullivan, I was born in Geraldton, Western Australia. Grew up in the west, before moving to Adelaide, South Australia in 1997. Started working in the Christian Metal scene with The Underground, now not active any more, which had acts like Mortification, Virgin Black, Ethereal Scourge, Embodiment 12:14, Seraph's Coal and others. With a passion for people and the cross back in those days, I then fell away from the Lord for 14 years in 2001, chasing all sorts to gratify the flesh and back in 2015 after moving to the United Kingdom for 6 years I gave my heart back for Jesus and the Father in his still small voice, called me back and to regain my identity as for many years listened to those who told me who I should be and NOT who I am. I'm part of Meltdown Music Ministries and their Head Of Marketing and Promotions also I'm now in a place where I have started my magazine through the WILL of the Father and we are becoming one of the most well respected magazines in the United Kingdom. We believe in UNITY in the United Kingdom and throughout the world. Doesn't matter what background you're from, which church or what you have been through WE ALL accept Jesus is Lord, by his word and spirit.
Jarrod Chambers was born and raised in California. I grew up straight metal rocking the guitar since grade school / Middle School. The first real band I played with was Papa Roach in high school. I eventually went on to play with Alistair, freaks of nature, perfectly aligned and then got picked up by Raven Black. After getting signed to a label and doing a ton of recording and showcasing and all that kind of stuff eventually the Lord called me to reunification and sanctification and I walked away from secular music. At this point in my life I'm back in school studying for a bachelor's degree in Theology and working on a new project (that I have not disclosed yet) called voice like a trumpet. This will be a Christian metal project that I'm putting together. And that's about the time that I met you guys online through my tree of life social events and local christian event page on Facebook....
JR Rife is a dedicated husband and father hailing from the East Coast of the USA. Picking up the guitar at the age of 15, JR was the front man and co-founder of the Christian Metal band, Day of Wrath, in 1998. Day of Wrath was named for the Believer song, Dies Irae (Day of Wrath) from the album Sanity Obscure. Though short lived and with many line-up changes, JR has been involved in the music industry in different capacities for the past two decades and recently published his 6th book, General Admission - A History of Christian Metal by a Fan, with an introduction by Dale Thompson of Bride fame.
JR is passionate about ministering in Post-Communist areas as well as regions where Christianity is dwindling. When he is not at his church playing bass or leading a Small Group, JR serves his apostolic calling by traveling Eastern and Northern Europe investing in the "least of these" among many different cultures and people groups. In addition to being a graduate of Welton Academy SBS and Christian Leader's Institute, JR is also in Mattie Montgomery (For Today) Supernatural Evangelism training, BASE - Awakening Evangelism.
Aside from his photography hobby in which he mostly does nature and architecture, his portfolio of concerts and live performances is growing. JR's musical appreciation varies across nearly all genres but his all time favorite styles are Symphonic/Melodic Black Metal and Power Metal.
Greatest influences include (in no particular order): Extol, Believer, Living Sacrifice, Northern Flame, Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, Bride, Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhoads, Led Zeppelin, Spoken, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Slechtvalk, and Paramaecium.
His photography and information about the books he authors can be seen at www.facebook.com/RevRife

Hello metal heads worldwide!
My name is Paul Portell, I hail from the heart of the USA, in Missouri. My journey into Christian metal began in the late 1980's by listening to whatever tapes my brother owned, primarily albums by Petra, Stryper, and Whitecross. However, it wasn't until late 2000 when I began to delve deeper into the Christian metal scene by attending a concert at my local coffeehouse by the band Living Sacrifice. From there, I began listening to bands like Blindside, Demon Hunter, Dead Poetic, and eventually more current bands like War of Ages, Fit for a King, and Theocracy. I even gave myself a crash course in revisiting several class Christian metal bands from the 80's and early 90's. Between 2002 and 2008, I was a freelance album review writer for a couple of Christian music e-zines, where I tackled albums from the likes of: Stryper, Demon Hunter, Hyper Static Union, P.O.D., and more than a dozen releases from the Facedown Records label. My goal at The Metal Onslaught is to get back to the grind of pushing out refreshingly honest album reviews for newer and established punk, hard rock or metal bands in the Christian music scene as they appease my interest.
The Metal Onslaught is proud to introduce Mason Beard, the main man behind our news and article page. Mason tends to hang out mostly via Twitter, but this young man has been a force in written formats with reviews, news for quite some time. Formerly with Indie Vision Music, Mason has proven himself to be a major player in the new breed of writing and with a passion for Jesus and hard music.
This man needs no introduction, Dave Kruse is based out in Arizona and is the mastermind and bloke with The Covenant Metal Radio Show. His expertise are welcome with our magazine. Not only is he completely knowledgeable about the metal and rock scenes but, he his passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Such a wonderful friend and brother personally and in the faith we as a family share a special bond that will never fade or go away. We are honored to have him with us.
